Buffalo Plane Crash

A commuter airliner crashed into a home late Thursday about 6 miles from a Buffalo, New York. The plane was said to have crashed due to significant ice buildup on the plane's wings and windshields, killing all 49 passengers and another person on the ground. It's so sad to hear of these deaths just after the miraculous survival of the passengers of the Hudson crash.

Here's a touching story of one of the flight's passengers.

You would think after the recent plane trouble in New York they would take extra precautions on all flights. This could frustrate travelers from flying and think twice about how they want to get to their destination.

This is horrible. Unfortunately these people were not as lucky as the people in New York. This probably will discourage many people from wanting to travel for awhile.

I feel extremely bad and sorry for the victims and their families from this crash. It is understandable how some people don't wanna fly even though there is more chance of dying in a car accident than in a plane crash. I can't imagine what was going through their minds when the plane was crashing.

It sucks that, not only everyone on the plane died, but someone was killed on the ground as well. It's really weird that all of these planes are crashing all of the sudden. Hopefully, airlines will be extra cautious now that all of these crashes are taking place.

While these events are tragic, it shouldn't be forgotten that this was the first fatal airplane crash since 2006. Just driving to school(or walking) you are much more likely to get yourself killed. Or taking the taxi to/from the airport. Airplanes are one of the safest ways to travel. Sadly there will never be a way to prevent occasional accidents like this, as neither human error nor faulty equipment can be fully eliminated.

^Sorry, first fatal crash in the U.S. since 2006, there's of course (sadly) been a couple outside.

All these reports on plane crashes really scare travelers. They will be even more paranoid than ever before. It'll be one's luck to have a very experienced crew or you might have a crew with several new members. It is really scary because travelers will constantly thinking what might happen to them on their flight. I definitely think that airports and airline companies will have a decrease in number of travelers these couple of months.

I've never heard of a plane crashing because of significant ice buildup. If this is a common reason for crashes, then wouldn't there already be a solution to solve this problem? If not, then I guess aircraft engineers have one more thing to worry about when it comes to building airplanes.

This worries me that we don't take enough precaution - especially with the amazing landing in the Hudson happening not long ago, is something we needed to take into consideration. Just because this crash was due to ice build-up doesn't mean we can blame it on not knowing... shouldn't we be smarter than to let this happen?

Why does all this stuff happen in New York? This is a bad look for airplane companies. It sucks that people had to die, unlike the other recent plane crash. The business for these companies is going to decrease because of all of these plane crashes.

This is so sad. I feel sorry for the members on board the plane but I wonder why the pilot couldn't aim for somewhere else beside a home. I wonder if the plane lost control in the air or was just falling down.

I don't understand especially since there was just a flight that went down in new york. You would think that after that that there would be more precautions.

up until the past month or so it had been a while since we've heard of any significant plane crashes. it's a shame that these passengers weren't as lucky as the other ones...
