WASILLA, Alaska (Nov. 6) -- Is Sarah Palin the answer for defeated Republicans? After a historic rebuke at the polls, the Republican Party is staggering into an uncertain tomorrow with the White House and Congress in Democratic hands, no certain leader in sight and its membership divided over what it means to be a Republican.
Ever since her selection as John McCain's running mate in late August, Palin, the 44-year-old Alaska governor, was the star of the GOP ticket, though views of her vary wildly across the political spectrum. With the Republican brand corroded and the hunt on for the next Ronald Reagan, Palin could be one of many people competing to influence Republican ideas in the post-Bush era, maybe even as the party's leader.

judging by how much hatred she arouses among her non evangelical, white voting base, I don't think that it would be wise if the GOP puts all their faith in her. however, if Obama messes up, or just fails to convince a majority of people that he is doing a good job, than Palin would have a shot at the presidency.
Palin will definitely have a place for her in history books. I'm sure she'll have some kind of influence on the Republican party in the years to come but I'm not sure about party leader. Some people hate her while some love her. So it's hard to say if she's the answer for GOP
There is no way that the Republican party would consider her for there presidential nomination 4 years from now granted even if Obama does"mess up" i still don't think that any one would trust palin to run our country. As for the GOP it could be possible because as s00 said there are some who love her and some who hate her.
I personally don't think Palin is the solution for the trouble GOP is facing. As much as she attracts many voters, she also brings many enemies who do not think she is qualified to become the president. Some might say it will be disastrous for this party or even this country to let her lead them.
Sarah Palin is part of the new face of the GOP, a new fresh image that is creating a new look for the Republicans. I think that it is quite positive for the GOP and it will help them in future.
I think Sarah Palin is a good leader only for the very, very conservative republicans. I doubt she is moderate enough to win anymore big elections. She doesn't appeal to a wide enough range of people.
