Ever since the failure to overturn Roe v. Wade, a growing number of pro-life pastors, activists and conservative academics are refocusing their goals from banning abortions to reducing the number of abortions by building social programs and developing assistance for pregnant women. Many of those taking this new stance feeling that they are facing the "political reality" since Barack Obama is a supporter of abortion rights and is unlikely to appoint Supreme Court justices who would overturn Roe v. Wade. However, this new perspective is causing dissent in the anti-abortion movement among traditionalists and has caused those on that side to harshly criticize the new shift.
